reception will be held Friday August 15 at the Eldersburg
Public Library, where
the winners of the photo contest will be announced.
The reception will begin at 5:30 p.m. This event is open to
all who participated in the contest, as well as the public.
Life
in and around Eldersburg is filled with picture-perfect moments.
Now, The
Eldersburg Eagle and Eldersburg.Net want your best shot. The Eagle and Eldersburg.Net are teaming up for the fourth Eldersburg Photo Contest, open to residents in the 21784 ZIP code and the Carroll County Portion of Marriottsville.
We’re
looking for photos that depict life in our community –
and you could win one of several prizes.
*First Prize - $100 cash and a photo spread on
Eldersburg.Net
*Second Prize - $50 gift certificate from
Photo Scraps
*Third Prize - $25 gift certificate from Fast
Frames
Additional
prizes for winners in the categories of Landscapes, Still
Life & Architecture, People, and Ages 13 and under (see below for
details). All photos submitted, regardless of categories,
will be judged for Overall Best.
Just send us your color or black-and-white photos - entries must be in digital format, and sent via e-mail
to  - by July 6th, 2008. Photos must have been
taken within the past 12 months and taken in the Eldersburg
area. Be sure to include your name, address, contact phone number and a brief description of the picture and what categories you wish the photo to be entered in. There is a limit of 4 entries per person in the contest.
We will post ALL entries on Eldersburg.Net for family members, friends and neighbors to view and vote. Voting will begin July 9 and end July 23, 2008. Final determination of winners will be a blended rating of the online voters and a judging panel, consisting of a photographer of The Eldersburg Eagle, Eldersburg.Net staff and other professionals.
Winners will be announced in the Eagle, and on a posting at Eldersburg.Net.
Categories:
*Landscape: Landscapes, nature, wildlife, sunsets, lakes, forests, outdoors, etc.
*Still Life & Architecture: Buildings, landmarks, non-living items and objects, man-made structures.
*People: Any photo that features a person or a group of people as a main focus.
*Ages 13 and under: Our "Young Photographer" category; photo taken by a resident age 13 or younger.
A photo may entered into any category as long as it fits the requirements. You do not have to enter your photo in a category. if a category is not specified, it will still be considered for the Overall Best.
All entries
must be received in digital format in either .jpg, .tif, or
.bmp fild format. File size limit is 2 MB. Photos may not
have excessive computer photo editing. Photo editing is limited
to basic color and size correction. Photo entries must be
taken within the 21784 ZIP code, or in the Carroll County
portion of Marriottsville. Photo entries will be judged on
aesthetic merit and how they represent the Eldersburg-Sykesville
area. Remember, only 4 entries per person.
Entries may only be submitted by persons living and/or working in the 21784 ZIP. The decisions of the judges and sponsors of the contest will be final. All entries become the property of Eldersburg.Net, their parent company Advantage Internet Marketing, The Eldersburg Eagle and Patuxent Publishing Company. Employees of Eldersburg.Net, Advantage Internet Marketing, The Eldersburg Eagle and Patuxent Publishing Company are not eligible. |
