robolion.jpgFor the second year in a row  - the Roar of the Robots will be right here in Carroll County! Middle school students will test Lego robot creations in several biomedical engineering challenges as they compete for a space at the state competition.

On Saturday, December 4th the Liberty High School Robotics Team 2199 will sponsor a Regional Qualifier for local middle school FIRST Lego League (FLL) teams.  A total of 24 teams will be enrolled from all over Maryland.  Student teams will compete in the 2010 Body Forward Challenge which has two components; a robot game and a project.  Teams build a lego robot - a sensor-equipped vehicle that will compete in tasks that simulate biomedical engineering tasks from repairing bones to dispensing medicine.  In addition teams identify a health problem within the community, research it, propose solutions, and present the findings. The top teams go on to the state level competition at UMBC in February.

Lots of volunteers are needed to make this successful, and fun for all.   No experience is necessary and all ages are welcome.  Judges need to be over 18.  If you can't volunteer, please stop by - it's free and fun.  Food will be available for sale.   To get more information or to volunteer, contact Rose Young ( This e-mail address is being protected from spambots.
