The side catering building of Salerno’s was packed with local businesses, including the Carroll County Times, Enterprise Rent-a-Car, BDG Entrepreneurial, MBD Maryland and Visual Integrators. The talk of the afternoon? Carroll County’s Comprehensive Plan, otherwise known as Pathways – which lays out future development in Carroll County, some of which has ignited heated debates among county commissioners and concerned citizens. Of particular interest to Eldersburg businesses are the zoning changes that may be in store.

Jon Allen, president of the SCBA, stressed comprehension when it came to the Pathways plan. “It’s important that you understand what the changes are and how they impact you,” he said. Larry Helminiak, another SCBA member, reinforced this. “If you’re a business owner this will affect you more than anyone else.”

Allen tried to stay more neutral.

“Just be aware of the process,” he urged. “First and foremost, we want to bring this to the consciousness and get people involved.”
