The month of May has been a very busy and rewarding one for the Freedom District Lions Club. On May 2nd, the annual Spring Fling was held at the Sykesville VFD Carnival grounds. Even with a cloudy and rainy day a good crowd came out supported this important fund raiser.

At our regular meeting on May 13th in the Celebration Hall of Messiah Lutheran Church, the members were informed about the clubs twinning project. Lions Clubs International is a world wide organization and the Freedom District Lions are "twinning" with the Brighton Lions Club in Brighton, England. The two clubs have a started a joint service project to send information, pictures etc. to a youth in each country. The Freedom District lions will be sending the emails and mail to Alex Foster in England. The Brighton Lions will be communicating with a local Sykesville young person, Joseph Diventi.

The Freedom District Lions had an unexpected visitor at their Club meeting. Lion Laurie Bell was visiting his family who lives in Finksburg and attended our meeting to further International Relations between Lions Club.

Also in May, the Lions did their road clean up project on Route 32. The Lions have been cleaning up the debris on this stretch of road for many years.
