Freedom-District Fire Department Carnival

It's that time of the year again - the time for pit beef and funnel cakes, for fun games and adrenalin heightening rides.
The Sykesville Freedom-District Fire Department will be hosting its 77th annual carnival starting June 22 and lasting a week, through June 27. It will be held at the same location as previous years, the carnival grounds behind the fire station off of Rt. 32 at 6680 Sykesville Rd.
The fun will begin at 6 p.m. each night, though the rides do not open until 7 p.m. Ride-all-night tickets will be sold on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday of the carnival week, allowing purchasers to pay one price to ride to their heart's content. Friday will showcase a fireworks display, with a rain date of Saturday, June 27. A variety of entertainment will be present, ranging from raffles and nightly bingo to live entertainment.
When to go?
Monday, June 22: Opening night, with a live musical performance by Totally Confused, a country and oldies band.
Tuesday, June 23: Ride-all-night evening, with a live musical performance by Crossfires, a country band.
Wednesday, June 24: Ride-all-night evening, with a live musical performance by Bad Moon Rizing, a variety band.
Thursday, June 25: Ride-all-night evening, with a live musical performance by Vintage, a variety band playing music from every decade beginning with the ‘50s.
Friday, June 26: Fireworks evening, with a live musical performance by the Country Ramblers, a country and oldies band.
Saturday, June 27: Rain date for fireworks. Live musical performance by the No Pants Dance Band, a mix of party, rock and pop music. |
