Westminster, Carroll County, Maryland July 11, 2011 ---- Michael Andrew Terrell aged 31 of Sykesville surrendered yesterday afternoon to Carroll County Sheriff’s Deputies, who served him with charges for Second Degree Assault, Child Abduction and Disturbing the Peace.   Terrell’s arrest ended a week long investigation into his whereabouts following a domestic altercation between Terrell and his live-in girlfriend.

On Monday, July 4, 2011 at 5:20pm, Sheriff’s Deputies responded to calls reporting a domestic assault in the front yard of a home in the 1300 BLK of Buckhorn Road in Sykesville.  Arriving deputies learned that Terrell had assaulted both his girlfriend and their two year old daughter in an effort to gain custody of the child, but he was unsuccessful after his girlfriend took refuge with the child in a neighbor’s home.

Terrell returned to the home shared with his girlfriend and removed her eight year old son before fleeing the area. Approximately 45 minutes later, Terrell released the eight year old unharmed to a family friend in Mount Airy.  Sheriff's deputies were notified of the release, and boy was returned to his mother without further incident.

Following his arrest, Terrell was taken before a District Court Commissioner and is being held without bail at the Carroll County Detention Center pending trial.  The Sheriff’s Office investigation continues…  Anyone with information about these incidents is asked to contact Sergeant Brad Brown of the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division at 410-386-2900, or the Anonymous TIPS Hotline at 1-888-399-TIPP.
