A small creek along Sykesville Road that had been polluted by a sewage leak last week has been deemed safe once again. Officials with the Health Department's Bureau of Environmental Health today said contact with the water is no longer a danger. Between 500 and 1,000 gallons of raw sewage spilled when a private system backed up. Some of the sewage reached the unnamed creek. The stream runs through a field behind a row of houses on Sykesville Road, near Piney Ridge Parkway. On Tuesday, residents were warned to avoid contact with the water.
Questions can be directed to the Health Department at 410-876-1884.
